You can be sure of an enjoyable and challenging route, taking in country lanes, ancient drovers roads, miners paths and of course some of Coed y Brenin’s World renowned technical single track. We provide food and water stations and the route will be clearly way-marked with warning notices posted at the tricky bits. If you can ride 30 km off road, and handle Coed y Brenin single track you can do this event.
If you have not been to Coed Y Brenin for a while there have been some pretty exciting developments in the forest, Y Fowndri, a huge new skills area and fun park is opening this summer and the extension to the visitor centre is now complete, providing space for a much improved bike shop and rental store, as well as overflow space for the cafe, multipurpose spaces for events and education and 24hr toilets.
The 2013 howies Coed Y Brenin enduro will be forming part of the official opening of the new bike shop and skills area, so we have a jam packed weekend planed, with bike demos, 2014 model displays, and a brand new kids fun enduro event, the Nippers ‘n Rippers Rally, a non competitive ride with 3 route length options, for children from 6 yrs.
The improved facilities at the visitor centre mean we are moving the focus of the event down to the main building for 2013. Event HQ, signing on and number collection will be above the bike shop, and the route will finish right outside the centre, close to the kids park and, crucially, near the cafe!
When you enter the event you can choose the 30 or 60 km route option, this year to ease congestion on the early sections of singletrack we are staggering the start, with the 60 KM riders leaving 5 minutes before the 30 km riders.
There are campsites and lots of bunkhouse and B&B accommodation nearby and we will post a full list in the next week or so.
We will be printing limited edition howies event T-shirts which you can order when you enter, and all finishers will receive the now traditional event mug as well as random spot prizes.
howies tee available to order with your entry
